Princess Szeret Veresz
Status Alive and immortal. In her castle bathtub, water red with gore, playing with Olivia's calculator; her lover the Gawky Model has just been killed by her mother. Has revealed herself to Olivia, Jack, and Eppy as a shapeshifter and, in leopard form, attacked Rozito at the Hallaset Fields trailhead.
Szeret Veresz is the daughter of Queen Kiraline, a goth princess in her twenties whose garb evokes menace and whose mood is cheery and delightful. She gallops into town at night, strips in a dress shop, drops twenty feet from the ballroom wires, and has never seen the ocean, a toilet, or a calculator. She feeds in the dungeon with her mother, does not age, and can become a leopard-like beast. She wants a friend from the outside world, and she has decided it is Olivia.

What the sources establishEstablished
- Szeret is a goth princess in her twenties whose dark garb evokes menace while her mood is cheery and delightful; the townsfolk cheer as she gallops past and fall silent when she is gone. pilot pp. 16-17
- She calls Rozito her friend, refuses his bow, swears 'by the comet's tail', and says he sounds like her mother. pilot p. 17
- She rates dresses by food names -- Mushroom, Tomato, Lettuce, Peach -- chooses a leather bodysuit, strips to garter and hose in the shop, and takes the Gawky Model home to the castle. pilot pp. 18-19
- She watches Olivia's arrival at the Southern Gate through a telescope in her bedroom, naked, with the model asleep in her bed. pilot p. 22
- She performs aerial gymnastics above the masquerade and drops twenty feet to land behind Barron, who says she has not aged a day; she replies that she would not know about dying. pilot p. 34
- She says the Lich Cult was before her time and that her mother crushed them once and would have no bother doing it again. pilot p. 35
- In the dungeon she warns her mother that if the humans ever find peace 'our days will be numbered', promises never to forget what she is, and enters the feeding room with paranormal speed. pilot pp. 38-39
- She visits the Albion Consulate with Rozito and Red Guards, announces the queen's support for the theater work, and tells Nero that anyone who speeds it will be in her mother's good graces. pilot p. 40
- She takes Olivia's hands, says 'That makes me your first princess', insists on being called Szeret, and spins her in a waltz; she claims her mother was adamant she aid the necromantic investigation. pilot pp. 40-41
- She has never seen the ocean, an airship, electric lights, or indoor plumbing, does not know what math is, and says the word 'traveler' has no meaning to her; she believes in things she has not seen. pilot pp. 43-44
- Olivia teaches her the calculator; she cranks out 'two hundred and fifty-seven', hugs Olivia, and keeps the device. pilot pp. 47-48, 53
- Facing the Necrotic Bulk she says it cannot be killed because it is already dead, pushes Jack away with remarkable strength, and transforms into a quadrupedal leopard-like beast, ripping out of her clothes. pilot pp. 49-50
- As the leopard she charges Rozito at the trailhead, dodges his scalpels, and mauls him at the carriage before galloping back to town; the script's phrase for the attack is 'gobbling up', but Rozito survives it (author's ruling; Book Two and the later fiction keep him alive). pilot p. 50
- She sits afterward in a bathtub red with gore, notices the Gawky Model is missing from her bed, and turns her mind to 'a new toy, Olivia'. pilot p. 53
- The series document makes her Olivia's paranormal guide and confidant and the emotional heart of the series. pilot p. 55
Said, believed, or contradicted between sourcesRumored or disputed
- The Campaign World Guide says the royal wedding is between the Albion prince and Princess Szeret Veresz; in the pilot the bride is the Princess of Terrassia and Szeret is shopping for a dress to attend. Campaign World Guide, 'The Century War'; pilot pp. 15, 18, 30
- Book Two says Szeret cannot read; the grounding sheet gives her bedroom books, star charts, and a locked journal. Neither claim is tested in the pilot. Book Two, 'Character Profiles', Szeret; EC_GROUNDING_SHEET.md, section 2
- Book Two says she shapeshifts into birds, cats, and other small creatures to follow strangers through the city, which would explain the unseen creature on the Queen's Road rooftops; the pilot leaves that creature unidentified. Book Two, 'Character Profiles', Szeret; pilot pp. 24-25
- Book Two says she does not know for certain that her mother is a vampire; the pilot has her feed beside Kiraline in the dungeon. Book Two, 'NPC Knowledge Cheat Sheet', Szeret; pilot p. 39
- Book Two says she refers to herself in the third person; in the pilot it is Rozito who says 'Szeret loves dancing'. Book Two, 'Character Profiles', Szeret; pilot p. 33
What no source settlesUnestablished

- Szeret's age in years, and whether Kiraline bore or made her, is not established in any source.
- Whether the leopard is her only beast form is not established in the pilot.
