Sorting Hat

Early choices sort the player into a track · identity is the product

The shape: a sorting prologue scores the player’s answers, then routes them into one of 3–4 long, mostly-linear tracks. Big early divergence, little late divergence. Use for: faction-rich IPs, “which kind of person are you in this world?”, shareable results. Players replay to live the other lives -- budget the tracks evenly.

The Sorting Prologue (5–10 questions)

Each question is an in-world scene, never a quiz. The three answers must be equally attractive -- if one is obviously “correct,” it sorts nothing. Note which track each answer scores.

Track Sheets (3–4)

Each track is a short Gauntlet or mini-Quest with its patron’s flavor. List 10–15 beats per track (one line each) plus the flag that splits its two ending variants. Tracks may share scenery -- the same ballroom from the servant’s door and the guest list are different scenes for the price of one set.

Track Parity Check

Players replay to see the other lives. Rate each track honestly -- if one is the B-team, the structure’s promise breaks.
